I do pastel pet portraits and originals and also acrylic painting on Brazilian Agates, wood and metal.
As a child, I was always doodling and somehow they were always of animals. I started doing pet portriats in my early teens and have continued since. Both of my parents are artistic and I have worked with my Dad for years in his sign making business.
Being around horses and dogs throughout my entire life, I know how much pets mean to their owners and have found personal paintings of their pets enrich their lives.
My artwork has always specialized in dogs and horses because of my love for them but I can and will paint buildings, landscapes and other animals.
I paint Pet Portraits in a variety of sizes in pastels.
I began painting on agates when someone asked me to paint a picture of their pet they lost on one of their agates. I now enjoy painting on agates and enjoy capturing the beauty of nature in all of my paintings.
Agates are know for their bands of color formed by intermittent deposits of quartz into irregular cavities in volcanic rocks. The concentric wavy patterns and colors are caused by impurities. In a variety of colors opaque to translucent, though usually peach-orange to gray.
No two agates are alike, resulting in a one of a kind piece of artwork after I paint the item. When painting the agates, I try to incorporate the beauty of the agate into the painting.
The uniqueness of each piece is a true treasure to cherish.
